What do engineering students and mentors across Europe think about the future of their field and the role Mixed Reality (MR) could play in shaping it?

As part of the TRAINEE Erasmus+ Project initiative, we set out to explore this question.

We are pleased to announce that TRAINEE's first research paper has been officially published in the Elsevier conference proceedings:

"Rethinking Engineering Education in Light of Mixed Reality Opportunities – Results from a European Survey"

https://doi.org/10.1016/j.procs.2026.02.292

This publication is the result of our preliminary fieldwork – a Europe-wide survey that gathered direct insights from those at the heart of engineering education: students and educators. The findings provide a compelling snapshot of the current state of engineering education across Europe and highlight future opportunities enabled by Mixed Reality technologies.

This milestone marks an important step in the TRAINEE project's mission to connect emerging technologies with engineering education and lays the groundwork for further research and development in this area.
